This trip has been cancelled for 2011.

The Nabataeans may be gone and the ancient desert settlements may be quiet, but what remains to be visited and studied in this spectacular country is wonderful.

We travel to the Dead Sea and the surrounding sites of Bethany, Mount Nebo, Madaba, the ancient city of Jerash and the castle at Ajloun. Then we head south across desert landscapes as far as Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba in the south.

We then return to Jordan's busy capital, Amman where we visit the old and new parts of the city as well as the ancient site Umm Qais in the far north.

Jordan has been welcoming western visitors for decades. The infrastructure is well-developed, the country is peaceful, the hotels are wonderful, the transportation is good and the sites are simply magnificent.

Travel with us as part of our small group as we visit the cities, villages, deserts, museums, busy markets, historic and cultural sites and more; all in comfort and safety. We travel on private mini-buses, jeeps and camels. We share stories at happy hour. We float in the Dead Sea and swim in the Red Sea waters. We marvel at the ruins of Petra. We do many things you've never imagined.

On this journey, as on each of our journeys, one or more of our experienced staff rides along with the group to offer advice, to smooth any bumps in the road and to make sure your experience is the best it can possibly be.

Itinerary Summary

Days 1-3	Arrive in Jordan and spend time at the Dead Sea while visiting the surrounding religious and cultural sites of Bethany Beyond the Jordan, Mount Nebo, Madaba, Jerash and Ajloun.
Days 4-5	Drive south to Wadi Mousa and attend a performance of Petra by Night and spend a full day in the famous archaeological site of Petra.
Day 6	Try a true desert experience at Wadi Rum.
Days 7-8	A few glorious days soaking up the sun and the atmosphere of Jordan's famous beach resorts at Aqaba on the waters of the Red Sea.
Days 9-10	After returning to Amman we spend our time visiting both the modern parts of Amman and the old city including Citadel Hill and the museum, the area around the King Hussein Mosque and the Roman Amphitheatre.
Days 11-12	The final days of the trip are spent visiting the historic Roman site of Umm Qais to the north of Amman and getting together for our final happy hour and farewell dinner before preparing for the trip home.
