8-day Northern and Central Netherlands Cruise

The central and northern parts of the Netherlands offer beautiful rivers and wetlands in the typical landscape of Holland.

This area encompasses IJssel 's several Hanseatic cities and its Friesland Frisian lakes, the IJsselmeer, the Wadden Sea and North-Holland's windmills and picturesque towns.

We will cruise through this area offering a varied and interesting program, with cozy Frisian and North Holland towns as well as the Island of Texel.

 

Day 1: Arnhem - Zutphen
Today you check in at 15.00 hours in Arnhem. Once your bags are brought to your cabin, the MPS Brilliant departs for a trip on the IJsselmeer to the Hanseatic City of Zutphen. This evening you'll enjoy a welcome dinner on board.

Day 2: Zutphen - Urk
After breakfast you sail past  picturesque Hanseatic cities along the Ijssel Deventer and Kampen. At the end of the afternoon we anchor for the night in Urk.

Day 3: Urk - Sneek
After a delicious breakfast we travel through watery Friesland. We cruise Princess Margriet Canal and the Frisian lakes then sail to Sneek. The "Watergate" is the hallmark of this village frequented by boaters and friendly residents.

Day 4: Sneek - Harlingen
Numerous waterfowl will guide our progress from Sneek to Harlingen. We'll visit  the 'Old Seun " Frisian port which has more than 500 monuments and many amenities in the area of arts, culture and shopping.

Day 5: Harlingen - Old Child - Den Helder
Today we cruise the Wadden Sea and visit the island of Texel. We moor in the fishing port of Old Child. On board, if you wish, you can book a tour of the island. There is also a stop included in The Burgh. During dinner we will cruise to Den Helder, where we spend the evening and overnight.

Day 6: Den Helder - Alkmaar - Zaandam
After breakfast we sail to Alkmaar, a cozy town, famous for its cheese. Make sure you visit the cheese market, a truly memorable experience. In the late afternoon we'll cruise to Zaandam, where you can visit the famous Zaanse Schans and enjoy the unique Dutch architecture in this beautiful town.

Day 7: Zaandam-Rhenen
Today we cruise on the Amsterdam IJ. This famous waterway will be busy with a lot of passenger boats and large cargo ships. From the IJ we travel  via the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal, Lek and Rhine to Rhenen. On board the crew prepares for the farewell evening and the Captain's Dinner with entertainment.

 

Day 8: Rhenen, Arnhem
The final morning of our journey. After breakfast, bid the crew goodbye and disembark.
