JOURNEY DESCRIPTION

Highlights of Egypt

The Pharaohs may be gone and the ancient desert settlements may be quiet, but what remains to be visited and studied in this spectacular country is phenomenal.

We travel to Cairo, then south into Upper Egypt stopping at Luxor, then down the Nile River to Aswan, then even further south to within a stone's throw of the Sudan border at Abu Simbel.

This amazing journey will introduce you to some of the most amazing ancient sites on Earth!

Brief Day-to-Day Itinerary

Days 1-4	Arrive in Cairo and spend three days exploring the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, Old Cairo, the Citadel, the ancient Khan al Khalili Bazaar, Giza's Great Pyramids and the Sphinx and other interesting sites in this bustling city.
Days 5-9	Travel south into Upper Egypt and the city of Luxor. Explore the city, the Karnak and Luxor Temple complexes and ancient Thebes, including the Valley of the Kings, the terrace temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossus of Memnon. Then spend several beautiful, relaxing days drifting slowly southward on the Nile River exploring the towns and temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way. We end the cruise in Aswan where we view the famous high dam, the temple of Philae and the botanical gardens on Kitchener's Island. We also partake in the ultimate relaxation - sailing the Nile River in a Felucca!
Day 10	Today we visit the amazing site of Abu Simbel on Lake Nasser and spend our evening and overnight in Aswan.
Days 11-12	Return to Cairo for an overnight stay with some free time for final sightseeing, shopping or packing for the trip home.
