1. WHAT IS A TRAILFINDERS’ CUSTOM-DESIGNED JOURNEY?

TrailFinders creates some of the world's most interesting journeys in some of the most out-of-the-way places. These "custom-designed" itineraries are created according to the wishes and needs of our clients and are designed so that our clients can enjoy travelling independently with the full support and services of TrailFinders' local representatives including guides, drivers, transportation and so on.

We create these international custom-designed journeys in all countries of the world.

In some cases we offer "pre-designed itineraries" in certain locations to give you an idea of what is available; our Malaysia, Borneo and Singapore itinerary is an example. While these types of itineraries have been designed to adequately cover a specific country or area, they may not be exactly what you would like. In that case, we simply adjust whatever parts of the itinerary you want to change according to your wishes and create a trip exactly the way you want it.

In other places we start each itinerary from scratch and build whatever you have in mind. During the process we are here to make suggestions and work with you to ensure we create exactly what you are looking for.

We like to design our trips so as to ensure that each guest is given the opportunity to visit all major highlights in any country or area without having to worry about the logistics of doing so. This form of travel maximizes efficiency and value. The pre-planning allows you to visit more locations in less time without being rushed and without having to worry about every detail. The hassle factor is low and the satisfaction level is very high.

You can be met at each airport by local English-speaking guides and transferred between airports and hotels in all locations. Land transportation is generally by private car or van. All trip documents and logistics are handled for you by our local representatives in each country. You have support available to you every step of the way whenever you need it.

We create journeys according to your wishes and always attempt to match the style and budget you have in mind. In general most of our journeys are designed at the four-star level of accommodation, however we can adjust this if necessary either upward or downward as you wish.

Guides, drivers and transportation are generally private, however, we can sometimes make use of public transportation if that is your choice.

It would be impossible to follow such an itinerary for the same duration and at the same cost while travelling totally on your own. Either the total cost or the duration would have to be increased to visit the same sites in the same way.

2. DO YOU CHARGE FOR THIS "CUSTOM-DESIGNED" SERVICE?

Absolutely not. Our services are free of charge.

Prior to creating a specific itinerary for you, we will collect a small non-refundable deposit, but this amount is applied in full to the cost of your trip at the time of final payment.

3. DO I NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY DURING THE TRIP?

We usually design our trips to include most of the major tour items in the pre-paid price so as to make sure that additional costs en-route are kept to a minimum. But, of course, this depends on your approach during the design process. You may request that we leave out certain items such as meals or specific transportation or whatever, so then of course you will have to pay for these en-route.

On any trip, pre-paid or not, you will certainly need to spend some money on personal expenses while travelling including, but not limited to items such as laundry, drinks, extra meals and shopping. We are very experienced and can help you anticipate extra costs.

4. CAN YOU HANDLE MY WHOLE FAMILY?

Sure! We can design these trips for any number of travellers from one to hundreds.

5. I'M STILL NOT SURE THIS APPROACH IS RIGHT FOR ME. CAN I TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT?

Absolutely! In fact we highly encourage everyone who is considering a custom-designed trip to spend a few hours with us, preferably in our office. We want to make sure we have sufficient detail to create exactly what you have in mind.
